My email app cannot connect or send: what do I check?

Go through these in order; most problems are one of the first three.

  1. Username: it must be the full email address (info@yourdomain.com), not just info.
  2. Password: try signing in to webmail (webmail.yourdomain.com) with the same password. If it fails there too, set a new one in Plesk (see "How do I change the password of a mailbox?") and update it on every device.
  3. Server name: panel.bytelegion.site for both incoming and outgoing mail. A warning about the certificate means the app is using another name, such as mail.yourdomain.com: change it to panel.bytelegion.site.
  4. Cannot send, can receive: in the outgoing (SMTP) settings, turn authentication on with the same username and password, and use port 465 with SSL/TLS (or 587 with STARTTLS).
  5. Old mail missing on a new device: check that the account was added as IMAP, not POP.

Still stuck? Open a support request with the app and device you use and the exact error message, and we will sort it out with you.
